Joanna Walters is a freelance news reporter and feature writer based in New York City. She covers breaking news, general news, features, investigations, profiles and travel writing. Joanna travels all over North America writing about a wide variety of topics, ranging from major breaking news events to criminal justice issues, gender equality, politics, arts and culture, adventure travel and interviews with prominent figures. Her work appears in digital, newspaper and magazine formats for world class publications including the Guardian, the Observer, the Washington Post, Marie Claire, the Times (of London), the Telegraph (of London) and the SundayTimes Travel Magazine.
Prior to moving from London to New York in 2003, she was the Transport Editor of The Observer, the UK national Sunday newspaper. Previously she worked for the Daily Mail and Travel Trade Gazette in London and the Western Mail in her native Wales.
She has also written for the Daily Express, Al Jazeera America, Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar and others.
Joanna makes appearances on television and radio and has commented on current affairs and her work for BBC TV and Radio, TruTV, CTV, the Huffington Post and iHeartRadio.
